The relationship between the sun and moon is identical to our true relationship with God. For the most part moon light is reflective sunlight. The moon has no light of its own. The moon existing without the sunlight is nothing more than a round dark ball of matter spinning around in dark empty space. Therefore whenever we see moon light we are actually seeing sunlight. Likewise it is the light of God that illuminates us with life in the same way that the sun illuminates the moon; however just as the moon cannot create its own light nor are you and I the creators of the life that we are temporally living.
Nevertheless, all of creation is illuminated with life by the eternal light of God.
Imagine if the moon would say “look at my light”, referring to his moon light and if we heard such nonsense we would feel compelled to correct the moon by simply saying” moonlight is sunlight”. Therefore, we too should always remind ourselves that the life that is warmly flowing through our bodies is God’s life not our life.
Finally it is the light of God that illuminates all living things including the mighty sun itself. In the exact same way that the sun illuminates the moon, it is the light of God that illuminates all of creation with life, light and love.
